MyHood Project Unveiled at All Digital Summit 2024 in Madrid

Madrid, October 15, 2024 — The MyHood project took center stage during the prestigious All Digital Summit, held at the iconic CaixaForum in Madrid. The event, themed “Summit of Engaged Digital Citizenship,” provided a platform for 500 experts from across Europe to discuss the latest trends and advancements in digital education and training. The summit, which ran from October 15-17, aimed to inspire digital engagement and raise awareness in society.

The European Projects Management Agency (EPMA) presented the third key outcome of the MyHood project: the innovative online tool developed by Serbian partners Nova Iskra. This tool aims to engage young people in understanding sustainable city structures and actively participate in urban planning.

Hands-On Workshop at CaixaForum

On the first day of the summit, approximately 50 participants attended a hands-on workshop where they had the opportunity to test the MyHood online tool. The session highlighted the tool’s potential to foster youth engagement in public spaces and urban planning.

Exploring the MyHood Online Tool

The MyHood online tool introduces an interactive system that integrates content such as definitions, examples, and brief texts to help young users better understand sustainable city environments. The tool is designed to engage youth through a mix of gamified features, questionnaires, and quizzes.

Key functionalities of the tool include:

  • Interactive Learning: Users can explore content related to sustainability, such as the necessary elements a park should include in a sustainable city. The tool dynamically presents relevant information based on user inputs, divided in two categories “positive” and negative”. Users can add “pins” related to Heat Islands, Safety, Atractiveness and Accessibility.

Young people can submit text and photos creating a richer dataset for urban planners. The entries are stored securely in personal or group profiles, with users having full control over which information is shared with project stakeholders.

  • Project Support and Participation: The tool also connects youth with ongoing urban planning projects. By contributing opinions, participating in polls, and offering suggestions, users can actively influence city planning initiatives. These contributions are rewarded, motivating continued engagement and fostering a sense of community.

Positive Reception and Future Potential

Participants at the workshop were enthusiastic about the tool’s user-friendly design and suggested additional applications to enhance its functionality. The feedback from this session will be instrumental in refining the tool further, ensuring it remains an effective platform for youth engagement in sustainable urban planning.

The MyHood project aligns with the summit’s mission of promoting digital citizenship by empowering young people to actively participate in shaping the cities of tomorrow. As the tool continues to evolve, it holds great promise for encouraging the next generation to take an active role in building sustainable urban environments.
